Handling Sales Rejection Like a Pro: A Practical Strategy from Curtis Jordan
Jun 12, 2025
Sales can be challenging, especially when prospects push back on price or reject your offer outright. It can feel personal, even traumatic, but it doesn't have to stop you in your tracks. In a recent episode of Upskill On-Air, brought to you by the Curtis Jordan Coaching Academy, Curtis Jordan shared a powerful strategy to effectively manage price objections and rejections in sales negotiations.
Embrace Rejection as an Opportunity
Curtis emphasized that price objections and rejections aren’t the end of a sales conversation—they’re actually an opportunity to build trust. When handled skillfully, objections can deepen the client relationship and help you better communicate your value.
The Feel, Felt, Found Technique
Curtis introduced a simple yet effective approach called the Feel, Felt, Found technique:
-
Feel: Acknowledge your prospect’s concern to demonstrate empathy. For example, "I understand how you feel about the price."
-
Felt: Relate their concerns to others who've shared similar initial hesitations. You might say, "Many of our clients have felt the same way initially."
-
Found: Shift the conversation toward the value of your solution, emphasizing the positive outcomes your existing clients have experienced. Say something like, "What many of our clients have found is that our solution saves them significant time and boosts revenue, far outweighing the initial setup cost."
Focus on Value and Solutions
Curtis highlighted the importance of refocusing the conversation from price to value. Highlight specific pain points—such as poor data management or inventory and supply chain inefficiencies—that your prospect might be facing. Clearly communicate how investing in your solution is an investment in solving these critical business problems.
Remember, rejection often isn’t just about price—it’s about perceived value. Improving how you communicate your solution's benefits can dramatically change how your offer is received.
